{BN Black Book of Parties} Vintage Tea Party Baby Shower

Vintage Tea Party Baby Shower

We love a beautiful tea party and mixing and matching old tea sets with new ones. You may remember this one that had lots of vintage clothing for this kids to wear  Today’s featured party is a pretty Vintage Tea Party Baby Shower submitted to us by Flavia from Fête à Fête.  A dear friend was going to be visiting from Canada, and Flavia decided it was the perfect opportunity to throw her a baby shower with a shabby chic afternoon tea party theme, including an entirely gluten-free menu.

Flavia re-purposed a lot of items she already had to serve as decorations and serving pieces. What she did buy came from thrift stores and flea markets.

She asked that guests come “in a vintage mood – and outfit.” and offered the ladies accessories such as gloves, tiaras, fascinators, pearls, feather boas, shawls and lace hand fans.

As party favors, she made chocolate-covered spoons and put them inside delicate organza drawstring bags with a note that read “Stir your hot milk with this chocolate spoon for a real treat!”

{BN Black Book of Parties} Alice in Wonderland Tea Party

Today’s featured party is a beautiful, bright & fun Alice in Wonderland tea party created by Jen from Passion for Parties. We are very partial to this theme and you may remember a few other Alice In Wonderland inspired parties HERE and HERE we have shared. When I saw this party, it totally screamed “Spring” to me – the colors and theme are perfect for an outdoor, springtime event!

As guests arrived at the party, they were able to decorate pretty pastel frames that they later took home as a favor. Other activities included a dress-up area, complete with a mirror to make the kids look “big” like Alice, a rabbit ring toss and Pin the Heart on the Queen.

Jen created a fabulous arbor over the seating area, made from PVC pipe and strung with small tissue poms and hanging lanterns. Love this idea!

As a centerpiece for the table, Jen & hubby also created the darling wooden box filled with moss, paper butterflies and mini tissue poms to display the pretty blooming flower cupcakes.

Beautiful Mother’s Day Entertaining Ideas

Can you believe Mother’s Day is right around the corner?! I swear I think the holidays have been just creeping up on me this year. I love seeing all the spring entertaining ideas hitting the web and I have some favorites I have book marked over the last year that I want to share with you.

I love the beautiful rustic character of this table setting by Camille Styles. I am such a fan of neutral color linens and using flowers and texture in placemats, etc to build to a table.

How sweet is this dessert spread with a little love note to mom in a frame in the middle?! This would be the perfect gift for me to sit and have a little indulgence in my favorite sweets. It also incorporates my 3 favorite colors- blue, yellow, and pink! Gorgeous styling by Tailored Sweets as seen on Pizzazzerie.

Of course I have to share this from Martha Stewart. How original to layer different colored ribbons to decorate a cake plate and then coordinate and use to make a pretty hanging wreath for above. I could see doing this for a Carnival party too.

I love all the color in this Pottery Barn table I found on Brandi Girl Blog. These would look so pretty with a veggie spread for an afternoon luncheon.

So do you have plans lined up for a family gathering for mother’s day or are you going to lay low surrounded by your little ones in bed? Both sound FABULOUS to me!!
