{Our Home} Guest Bathroom Dilemma

I am getting ready to host some very important business people for my husband tomorrow night and am spiffing up the place QUICK! If you follow me on Instagram then you have either already seen this and my cry for some help and given me so very good ideas.

We have a great downstairs bath but since we moved in it has just not been finished. Mostly because I am the kind of designer that takes my time. I am not a quick- I see the vision completely- kinda gal. I work in a more evolutionary mode! So this is my current dilemma today that I will be solving and back next week with a full pics of the FINISHED bathroom! Happy weekend friends!

{My Home} A White Tree and a FREE Art Print!

So as many of you know I have been gone for almost a month up North and I really was not planning to decorate for the holidays. I am only back for a few days and then heading back up with my family. Surely that is not enough time to make a home ready for the holidays! Well I stand corrected. As my husband and daughter picked me up from the airport I was told by Lauren that ALL her friends had Christmas trees and she did not. Okay serious tug at the heart people! So the very next morning I dropped her off at school and began my search for a fake tree. I never thought I would buy one of those but I love the idea for a few reason- no mess, no watering, and I can leave it up just a little longer without it looking like a fire hazard. But there was NO way I was going to spend $100 on this last minute purchase either. I have been wanting to do a white Christmas tree too for a few years so thought this was my chance. So after going to 5 places, I found one! AND it was only $25. I am not the hugest fan of Walmart because it is so chaotic when I go there but when you need a serious deal this is the place to go.

This is a little nook in my downstairs family room I created recently so I can try to do a little work when I am with Lauren in the afternoons. If you see me blogging, facebooking, twittering, or pinning- this is where you can find me! This is also the perfect spot for our new little tree- high enough for little hands to not touch ALL of the tree!

For the top I got this cluster of glitter gold berries and just threaded it through the top. Then I took a bird ornament my mom had given me way back and used it to tie the berrie branch to the tree. Voila a custom Christmas tree topper!

Below are some of my favorite ornaments on here! Some are new. Some have been in my family for a few generations. Some Lauren made. I had originally thought I would make this tree uber modern- just lights and a few round ornaments in the blue and green, but then I started pulling out our stuff and just could not stay away from these beautiful keepsakes we already had.

I thought it would be fun to also frame a subway art print that matches the tree to tie it all together.

I made this one real quick and for any of you last minute decorators, you can download yours HERE for free!

We have just a few more days before the BIG day and a few more great posts for you. See you tomorrow!

{Our Home} Succulents and The Patio

I know I left you hanging when I got you all to go buy succulents last month with that HUGE Home Depot sale on them, said I would show you what I got and where I put them, then never did my show and tell. Sorry for being such a bad bloggy friend! Okay so I am hopefully going to make it up to you and hopefully inspire you if you didn’t get them to go get some pots (on sale I am sure now that it is the end of summer!) and plant your heart away.

Lately, since it is summers end, I have been making dinner and sitting outside. These are the little beauties that we enjoy at our table on the patio.

And next to where we lounge with a glass of wine.

I LOVE the texture of these plants AND that they are low maintenance. I have a thing for killing plants which makes me so sad because I love having them all over the house. I think I might have met my plant soul mate now!

This urn is my favorite. It was from my mother’s house. I wish I had a second one and now may have to be on a search for its sister!

Of courseĀ  I gave Lauren’s table a little treat! This one has no thorns so she can’t hurt her hands if she touches it.

And lastly these are the last ones we see as we head back in the door. I love the one that looks like a flower. I think that pot still looks a little empty so I may have to get another little something for in there.

All the white pots (except the one from my mothers house) are from Ikea. Go HERE for the source.
