{Guest Post} Easy Holiday Gift Wrapping by Pamela Smerker Designs

Happy holidays A Blissful Nest readers! My name is Pamela and I am thrilled to be your guest blogger today. Rebekah asked me to share some fun ways to create easy and affordable packaging for the holidays, so here we go…

Keep it simple, I keep kraft and white boxes and bags available all year long.
You can decorate these items to match any theme by simply adding different colored embellishments.
A fun way to create a unique gift tag is by using a decorative Match Box.
Fill the Match Box with small candies for an extra surprise!
Add a sticker or write the recipients name on the front of your match box.
Fill with small candies for an extra surprise and hang with ribbon from the gift bag handle!
Gable boxes are everywhere and these MINI gable boxes in kraft are super easy to decorate with items found around the house.
Grab some bakers twine, a few buttons and a scrap of fabric or tulle.
Voila, slip a gift card inside for quick gift giving.
This green polka dotted petal box was a snap to decorate with a large letter “m” sticker and some red gingham ribbon. Fill with wrapped candy and instant hostess gift!

Last but not least, popcorn boxes. A great container filled with homemade goodies, like cookies, fudge or caramel corn. Wrap up the contents with wax paper or plastic wrap then pop it inside a popcorn box. Embellish your  box with rubber stamps, rub ons or stickers then add a fun tulle and bakers twine bow!

As you can see, great things do come in small fabulous packages! Check out your stash of decorating goodies and see what fun  and easy holiday goodies you can come up with.
Wishing you all the best this holiday season,
Pamela

I want to introduce you to some of my favorite sites/people I have found over the last almost 3 years of blogging. Some will be about children’s parties, event planning on a small and large scale, home entertaining, interior design, and well just fabulous sites I adore. So with no further ado, please welcome Susi from Design Shuffle!

Hi, I’m Susi, a writer for Design Shuffle, a wonderful social media site and online community for interior designers, other design professionals, home owners and design lovers. Design Shuffle is a great place to find inspiration for your next project and show off your designs. For finding inspiration, I love to visit blogs like A Blissful Nest and see what bloggers like Rebekah are up to. Rebekah asked me to guest blog about decorating with accessories and I am happy to be here. There is an art to adding accessories to interior designs, so here are some of my favorite tips on using accessories to give your room a polished, well designed look. Enjoy!

Interior Accessories

Accessories can turn bookshelves into cool vignettes. Natural treasures, boxes, even big beaded necklaces can be used to decorate and style shelves or tables.

Another examples of stylish bookshelves. Books can be accessories too. Rethink the way you stack and display them. Mix horizontal and vertical lines for more interest.

Interior Accessories

Mixing accessories on a table or shelf makes for a more interesting vignette. Break up pairs; create groups of odd numbers for a more dynamic energy.

Interior Accessories

Accessories are a great way to add color and texture to an interior design. They don’t always have to be functional. Their job is to add interest to a space.

Interior Accessories

Glass accessories can add both color and shiny sparkle to a room. Coastal rooms look great with old glass bottles and glass fisherman’s floats.

Interior Accessories

Mantels are just calling out to be decorated with stylish accessories. Display a mix of objects or a favorite collection.

Interior Accessories

Plants and flowers can be beautiful accessories and creative decorating ideas. In the kitchen and dining room you can use food or drinks as accessories too.

Interior Accessories

A great tip when decorating with accessories is to chose a color palette for the group or vignette. Odd numbers make for more interesting groups. Bookshelves don’t have to be just for books. Look for places in your room that could benefit from decorating with some stylish accessories. Images ( 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 )
