A Sweet Baby Shower

As mentioned on Friday, one of my friends had a baby shower in San Diego over the weekend. Of course I had to take some goodies along with the baby present I had made. I thought it would be fun to make a donut tower. I had not made one before and was excited to see if I could pull it off without practicing first. The night before I was cutting and sewing fabric flowers that matched the bunting I had made for the babies room.

I had seen this tutorial by my friend Paige from Paiges of Style over on Cake and thought it looked sweet and easy. And I do think it turned out darling! It was just time consuming making the flowers; other than that super simple. I used about 3-1/2 boxes of hostess donuts and made 8 flowers to “climb” up the side. They are kept in place by pearl head pins.

Here is what our “simple” display of sweets looked like. These cupcakes were UNBELIEVABLE!! I could have eaten 5. They were coconut and strawberry. YUM! The cake is a home made molten lava cake. I think I may have my friend Jesi give me the recipe to share with you. She swears she has finally perfected it and it was delicious. I added a tray of some meringues and a compote of sixlets. Then done. There is something to be said for a simple display of sweets. I love that there was not more than necessary and that it was all easy to pull together.

Jesi had purchased these flowers all wrapped up and she used them as favors for the guests. They were the perfect shades of what is in the babies room- pink & green.

Here is me with my friend Gretchen. She and I used to live together in college with 2 other girls. It was a blast living with all of them and I was so sad when I moved away. There is a saying in our group of friends called “forever friends” and she is one of mine. I can not wait to see her baby girl in just a few weeks now!

Hope you all had a great weekend too! Stay tuned tomorrow for something BIG, NEW, and available in the SHOP!! Do you know what it is??
