Thanksgiving Buffet Style

Can you believe it is the day before Thanksgiving?! Today I wanted to share with you the next area of our Thanksgiving Decor Simplified. I love this side table and use it for overflow from the main table. Styled with rustic elements it is a perfect compliment to our Thanksgiving table.

We started with the perfect menu including some of our family favorites! I printed up a menu card in our Thanksgiving printable collection and displayed it on this mini scalloped chalk board for all to see.

We used a cheese box on our Thanksgiving table so of course I had to add another one here. This time more linen napkins tied in a luxe grossgrain striped ribbon with the flatware tucked inside.

We displayed a very small dessert area and really only included the much anticipated pie! and mini pails of chocolate balls for after dinner.

Our yummy pie of course could not be displayed without some adornment! I quickly made a little “Give Thanks” banner that I cut out and attached to 2 lollipop sticks. Tied on a coordinating ribbon and it looks like it came right out of the bakery (shh!! It did!).

As you all know about my love affair with hobnail, so I could not resist to use some more. This old creamer was used to hold some pewter napkin rings.

Just in case extra glass were needed, more goblets were placed on one of my favorite cake plates.

Burlap touches with ruffles, our faux bois owl vase filled with some seasonal flowers and some “To Go’ boxes for guests completed our cozy little space.

I think we are now about ready for our guests to come and enjoy yummy Thanksgiving dinner!

{DIY Tutorial} Thanksgiving Thankful Board

Jen here from Sweeten Your Day and I love this time of year! Between the changes in the season and the upcoming holidays it is so hard not to be excited! Time is just flying so fast around here and Thanksgiving is right around the corner. I love doing little holiday traditions with my kids. I think it gets them excited but also helps them remember the reason for the actual celebration. This year we are doing a Thankful Thanksgiving Board.

Here is what you will need:

any frame and size- I reused one that I had
spray paint (optional in your choice of color)
poultry netting (chicken wire from IFA or Home Depot)
wire cutters
hot glue gun
ribbon/clothespins, banner (optional)

First you will spray paint your frame. I was going to spray mine black but once I printed ABN’s NEW Thanksgiving Collection banner and tags I thought the original vintage color and design of the frame would look even better!

Next cut the chicken wire so that it fits securely in the back of your frame.

The wire bends fairly easy, but it is MUCH easier to work with if you flatten the wire before. I would recommend placing it under books or something for a couple hours to a day, then stretch and work it with your hands as needed.

One the back side of the frame, glue down one side of the wire with your hot glue gun.  When the glue has hardened, you will be able to pull the rest the wire tight and secure to the other sides of the frame with more hot glue.

Now you can accent your frame however you like! The Thanksgiving Collection is just lovely! The colors are so crisp and vibrant! I laced some dark brown ribbon through the banner and tags. Each day until Thanksgiving we are going to add tags for what we are thankful for.

My youngest can’t write yet but likes to pretend :) So we just let her scribble then translate what she is grateful for.

I am so excited and can’t wait to see what they all come up with each day! You can check out ABN’s Thanksgiving Collection as well as Rebekah’s many other fabulous products.

Warm wishes and hope you all have a yummy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Table Simplified

This year I wanted to go with a little more simplicity. It is just us and maybe a few friends. I know typically we all break out our champagne flutes and best china and I am going to use some of those. But I mixed in some rustic elements and went for a brighter cheerie look.

White china and amber glasses layered on a patterned runner and natural bamboo placemats make the table pop.

I don’t know about you but I am a snacker. So I layered the plates with these golden soy nuts. I found myself snatching a few every time I passed the table!

I simply placed one of our new Thanksgiving place cards on top and laid a burlap flower next to it. Simplicity at it’s best I think. I do love pulling out linen napkins for dinner. There is something about using a linen cloth. I wrapped ours in our coordinating napkin wraps and wished each guest a sweet “give thanks”.

Of course we do need to give thanks on this special day and I placed a card on top of each person’s silverware to fill out. I found these great graphite pencils in the art section of Michaels and got out a favorite piece of my milk glass to put them in.

The center of the table was kept simple as well. Since this is a small table not much was needed. I added a little height by using a old cheese box and putting boxwoods down the center. I tied in my stripe theme by using a rich chocolate brown and white stripe ribbon wrapped around the bases. I spread some baby white pumpkins and some pears around the base of the box and it was done!

A few simple elements can wow your guests without sending you over the edge in decorating madness!

Thanksgiving For The Kids!

The little ones always need to have a special place for Thanksgiving. It is really hard for them to sit still at the big table with all of us and more importantly they LOVE something created just for them! We designed just the printable collection for them! Our table is perfect for the littlest at heart and will keep them busy enough to let you eat your meal. Kind of important don’t you think? Here are a few simple tips to create this special spot.

Use the kids craft table with little chairs just the right size for them. Decorate the backs of the chairs to make them look festive and fun.

Use butcher paper and wrap around the top of the table. Draw where their plates and cups belong. Kids love match up shapes.

Use pumpkins, pears or other kinds of season gourds and fruits and tie a cut name tag on it. My daughter loves playing with these mini pumpkins in her kitchen at this time of year.

Color away! I used a old cheese box and mason jars to display color blocked crayons. Perfect for coloring pictures right on the top of the table.

Special treat baskets just for them. I used berry baskets from the $1 section at Michaels and filled with chocolate balls and yogurt covered pretzels. Tied with a cute tag and you’re done!

So let them get messy, color everywhere and have a ball! They will have just the place to do it.
