Spring Table Setting Ideas & Entertaining

Coming up with new table setting ideas is one of my favorite things to do. I love pulling out all the different dishes and mixing and matching vintage plates with my everyday serving pieces. With spring HERE (yippee!!) I wanted to share our Easter brunch tablescape since I think it has some great ideas for family entertaining for the spring season.

Spring Table Setting Ideas Entertaining- A Blissful Nest

This is such a simple table setting and really took minutes to put together. I layered this great table cloth with these chevron placemats from Target and layered my patterns. I love doing this. I think it is an unexpected way of adding texture.

I pulled out our Emma plates from Pottery Barn and placed these brown transfer ware plates I got a long time ago at a antique store in LA. Linen napkins and our rattan napkin wraps adds a little luxe touch to a rather simple place setting.

Spring Tablescape Entertaining- A Blissful Nest I served this yummy easy breakfast bake and flaky rolls with some waffle skewers.

How darling are those toothpicks? Those are from Target and are on long sticks perfect for cupcakes, hors d’oeuvres and snacks.

We used some cute striped straws for our orange juice glasses and I created a simple centerpiece in a white ruffle hobnail bowl with some died eggs.

So with a few simple elements and layering your patterns you can create a festive table for a Sunday brunch with friends and family.

{Our Home} Dining Room Progression

Something more I am going to do around here is show you some projects and aspects of my home more. My personal projects more so than the styled parties or real parties. I think it is fun to see the progression of interiors and entertaining than just the finished product.

So first up: my dining room.

I have just a table! No chairs yet. I am scouring Craigslist for a deal. This is a very tiny room in our home and can not fit 10 seated. I think 6 chairs would be my max. So here is what I’ve got: 1 drop leaf table, chevron rug (we are loving chevron this week!) and some great fun accessories. I promise to share my finds and update you on the progress of this sweet little space!

{DIY Tutorial} Candlestick Cake Stand

Hi ABN readers! Jen from Sweeten Your Day here to share with you another DIY party tutorial. Some of you may remember my first post I shared here on ABN making these super cute Candlestick Jars, well here is another fun tutorial for candlesticks (if you can’t tell already how much I love using them!) How many times have you been planning a party and realize that you will need a particular color of cake stand to pull the look/display off? I know that I have quite a stock of cake stands from my cake-making years, and it never fails! I don’t have something that will work and need something new :) Now cake stands can get pretty pricey depending on the style and height you want, and I know I don’t always have $50+ to spend on just one,  so I am going to show you an inexpensive alternative that can be made to fit your very own style!

 Supplies:

Wooden Candlesticks – craft/hobby/wood stores

Wooden plaques: 2 sizes (mine were 3 1/2″ and 8″ for this stand)

Gorilla Glue

Spray Paint or Acrylic paint (whatever you prefer)

Paint your candlesticks and plaques, be sure to paint BOTH sides of  your plaques.

Once paint has dried, gorilla glue your smaller plaque to the base of your candlestick and the larger plaque UPSIDE DOWN on the top of you candlestick, this will be the top where you place your cake and treats. Let dry, and spray a clear coat of sealer over the whole thing.

Viola! You are done!  How easy (and cheap) was that! I made three cake stands using 2 different heights of candlesticks (just like the jars) all for about $35. You can totally paint them any color you want and fancy them up with some ribbons and such!

{DIY Tutorial} Easy Painted Jars

Hello, A Blissful Nest readers! It’s Linda here, from burlap+blue, and I’m happy to be here today sharing a fun and easy tutorial with you all!

These painted jars are perfect as centerpieces for your next party or event! And the best part is, they cost only pennies to make.

Materials:
glass jars (I collect these all year round for different crafts)
craft paint

That’s it! And the how-to couldn’t be easier…

Just take your glass jars, and squirt in about a tablespoon of craft paint. Add just a smidge of water to loosen the paint.

Next, put your lids back on your jars…and shake!

Let dry. You may need to touch up with a little more paint once your jars have dried.

Remove lids, add flowers, and voila!

Super simple, and I love how you can make these in any color scheme imaginable!

I chose blue, kelly green, and gold…what colors would you choose?
