{Our Home} Guest Bathroom Dilemma

I am getting ready to host some very important business people for my husband tomorrow night and am spiffing up the place QUICK! If you follow me on Instagram then you have either already seen this and my cry for some help and given me so very good ideas.

We have a great downstairs bath but since we moved in it has just not been finished. Mostly because I am the kind of designer that takes my time. I am not a quick- I see the vision completely- kinda gal. I work in a more evolutionary mode! So this is my current dilemma today that I will be solving and back next week with a full pics of the FINISHED bathroom! Happy weekend friends!

{Our Home} Dining Room Progression

Something more I am going to do around here is show you some projects and aspects of my home more. My personal projects more so than the styled parties or real parties. I think it is fun to see the progression of interiors and entertaining than just the finished product.

So first up: my dining room.

I have just a table! No chairs yet. I am scouring Craigslist for a deal. This is a very tiny room in our home and can not fit 10 seated. I think 6 chairs would be my max. So here is what I’ve got: 1 drop leaf table, chevron rug (we are loving chevron this week!) and some great fun accessories. I promise to share my finds and update you on the progress of this sweet little space!

Christmas Home Tour – Our Family Room – Christmas Edition!

I thought it would be fun to take a tour of our family room and show you parts of my happy place. With all the craziness going on in the world right now I am nesting more than ever with my little family and truly feeling truly blessed for them. So with that . . .

Welcome to my home – Christmas Edition!

This is the room we live in most so it is definitely the most decorated room in the house and why I am sharing this first for our Christmas Home Tour. The focal point of the room is our fireplace. We did not have a fireplace back in California so I feel spoiled having THE perfect spot to display some of my favorite pieces.

I have my prized Pottery Barn sea fan shadow box art as the main anchor to the top of the mantel and my white flower vases flanking either side.

I just filled these with some berries that match the mesh and berrie garland I draped along the front of the mantel.

This year a client had asked me to create her a reindeer art print with the sentiment “Believe”. I loved it so much that I made one for myself too!

And at the bottom of this post you too can have this print! A little Christmas present from me to you my sweet friends.

I went a little crazy with ribbon this year thanks to Hobby Lobby! I wrapped, tied and added a bow to anything that I could! Touches of my favorite (low maintenance greenery!) were my touches of green – boxwood and moss.

And a special little man has graced my mantel!

Since we are building fires we need to have wood piled up and ready to use. So I decided to wrap them up! I used wrapping paper from the $1 bins at Target and tossed in my moss wreaths from our Christmas Wish Party decorations.

A stacked pile of old soda crates on the other side of the fireplace, is a nice drink table for our chair nearby.

I hold this little bookcase very near and dear. My husband made it with his grandfather as a birthday gift for me many years ago. I put my favorite trinkets on it including coral from trips to Hawaii, black earthen ware from our honeymoon to Portugal, favorite photos and design books.

Of course I Christmas-fied the top!

Lastly our writing desk got dressed up with a little mesh, berries and Christmas balls.

Have fun this holiday season and enjoy EVERY moment with your family!

Our Spooktacular Halloween Mantel

Today I wanted to share some of my personal Halloween decor in our home. I love that our new house has this great fireplace and it is the focal point of our family room.

I think it is fun each year to pull out the things you have had put away for a year and create something new. Most of the time I use what I already own and maybe at the end of the season I will hit up the sales at the craft stores for the following year. This year I definitely got crafty and made my own Boo burlap banner. Draped across the mantel with a black cheesecloth and I think it gave it a little something special this year.

I always have these great vases on either side (do you remember them from our Christmas Wish party last year??). I simply jazzed them up with some foliage and some pumpkins.

I had this old frame sitting around with no back. I have been thinking I am going to paint it but for now I used a old scrap of fabric and some foam core and created a new back. Pinned in some flowers from Hobby Lobby and I have a new piece of art.

You know how I feel about Mercury Glass! I have a little collection going now and I love clustering the pieces together.

Layered with other elements breaks up the monotony of them all.

Some of them are candles and I love their pretty glow at night.

I sneak peeked this little guy on Instagram. He is too cute huh? A long ago purchase from Homegoods.

I always have greenery around somewhere (though most of the time it is not real!) These cute little boxwoods are throughout my house.

Lastly, at the bottom of my fireplace I have a cluster of pumpkins – silver, orange and white popping out of a basket. Maybe next year I will paint these . . .and on the other side these topiaries I have had forever.

So there you have it. Our little nook in the family room. Next up – our front door! and maybe a seasonal cocktail recipe. What do you think?
