Call Me Maybe Valentine’s Day Party – The Dessert Table

Yay! I am so excited to finally share the full details of our Call Me Maybe Valentine’s Day Party we had a few weeks ago. I was just slightly obsessed with this song this last year and really loved when the Olympic swim team did their montage with the song. It really just cracked me up and I got thinking how cute a theme this would be for a Valentine’s party. Of course I love hot pink and turquoise together (Lauren’s room is in these colors) and an idea was born. I was SOO excited to team up with Mariah from Giggles Galore to design and style this party and enlisted a fabulous team of vendors.

I have a serious love affair with tulle right now! I swear it is one of my most favorite fabrics to use for a party simple because of the full effect they can create and over the last few years I have loved how photography backdrops can really add visual depth to a table much like fabric backdrops. I buy them in small sizes that fit perfectly for behind the table I am using. This one by Swanky Prints had this great damask pattern in the perfect colors!

Though this may look like a decked out table, it really is simple in the desserts we served. A store bought cake and cupcakes and some special macaroons and cake pops from some of our favorite sources was all that we used with splashes of some candy for color.

Our 3 layer white fondant covered cake was simple adorned with a hot pink band of ribbon and this cute “Hello” on top. The “Hello” was created using cut out letters on gold card stock and glued to gold spray painted toothpicks.

Our store bought cupcakes got some royal treatment too! Dressed up in our cupcake wrappers with matching cupcake toppers and the most ridiculously cute fondant coordinating cupcake toppers by Brittney of Edible Details. At the last moment I decided to sprinkle the cupcakes with some edible gold sprinkles. It truly glammed them up!

The cake pops were a work of art. They are so simple yet really packed a punch in flavor and in sprucing up the table. Made by Kris of Goods by kCreative, she sent us her newest flavor, Chipotle, and decorated the heart pops with edible gold glitter frosting; spelling out “Hello”. Oh how we had too much fun figuring out what to do with them and ended up using them in 2 places. Here next to our gold phone popping out of a paper wrapped box and laid out on a platter with rock candy sticks.

Even our strawberry milk glasses had to be off the hook! Fondant gold phones by Edible Details hung from the rims with striped straws with coordinated flags from our printable collection.

My favorite dessert is macaroons. I swear I could sit there and eat a dozen of them before you could blink an eye!! Mariah had these made in a strie of colors. Then we sprinkled them with edible gold dust I purchased at Michaels.

We had such a fun time planning and enjoying this party and next up is the activities and games the kids played! Stay tuned. . . .

Seeing Green

This year green is it. Green is sassy, preppy and can be either playful or bold. You will see a lot of emerald green this year as Pantone has announced it is the color of the year. So I thought it would be fun to take a look and see some fabulous inspired parties, events and home products in this years MUST have color.

{Ikat Fabric, Cutlery}

{Coat, Clutch, Shoes}

{Headband, Glitter Bow Clips}

I think these would be too cute for a mommy and me matching set! Might have to get these for Lauren and I.

So what do you think? Will you go green?

{Our Home} Shopping On Craigslist & Ebay

We move next week to Dallas and I am bursting with excitement. Not only to explore this wonderful city but to have a new project. Though we will be renting for awhile until we figure out where we want to be, there is still so much that can be done to a rental. I think it will be fun to show you some easy and inexpensive ways to home beautify (yes that is my new word!) First on my list is some furniture shopping. We ended up throwing a few key pieces away before we had sold our house. We felt for what they were (condition, etc) that it would be more money to move them then they were really worth. So happy shopping for me but on a budget. Where am I heading? Craigslist and Ebay. And I want to share some of my finds with you so far.

Though I was originally opposed to buying a used sofa, I think these are fantastic finds and all under $1000.00. I would be paying so much more if they were in a store.

I am so in love with this campaign dresser! And the price is unbelievable. But here is the catch. They only offer local pick up and I am sure it would be crazy expensive for me to ship it. I just can not stop thinking about it though.

And lastly, we are in desperate need to sit on something at the kitchen table. I am in love faux bamboo and the top one is my first choice. But if you have been looking around for these than you know they are very hard to find and very expensive. So I may need to put this on my wish list or settle for the one below it. I love canned back chairs and I love the regal detail of this on the top of the frame. All these would need is a good coat of paint and new fabric on the seat.

Any of you found some amazing deals on Craigslist or Ebay??

Summer Entertaining – A Pool Party Bash

I can not believe I did not share this here last year when we did this darling pool party. It was on Amy Atlas and then I must have been so over the moon for my first AAD feature that I forgot to share ALL the photos with you. I did however put together a slideshow. But finally here they are and just in time to hopefully inspire you to plan some summer parties with your friends and family-just because!

The perfect setting is poolside with lots of comfy pillows and parasols.

Some sweet refreshments are key. We served sparkling lemonade and Italian Sodas.

Some easy to grab goodies are key. We served these layered jello cups, rice krispy treats, cupcakes (of course!), popcorn (easy for the kids to grab a cone and go, and a lemon meringue pie.

These cute little guys are marsapan in fruit shapes that we just stuck a lollipop in and attached a cute flag.

Pulling flowers from the garden in beautiful vases is a staple to any outdoor entertaining. It softens your table and creates a beautiful focal point.

These pillows were such a find at World Market! The whole collection had not only pillows but table runners and matching napkins. They were so beautiful and my little one was so tuckered out, she had a nice spot to recline.

I hope you have some great ideas for your next weekend get together!! This is exactly what I wish I was doing right now!!

 Our pool party collection is available in our shop now!
