{Guest Post} “Dollar Spot” Kids Christmas Table by Chris of Celebrations At Home

Hi everyone! Chris here, from Celebrations At Home – Ispiration for Stylish Entertaining. I’m happy to be visiting A Blissful Nest today, and sharing my ideas for an easy “Dollar Spot” kids Christmas table! I love shopping the $1 stores and isles where they have some amazing treasures you can use. And with all the holiday spending that’s already happening these ideas won’t bust your already stretched budget.

To create this inexpensive table, I shopped the Dollar Tree, the $1 isle at Michael’s, and the $1 bins at Target. Pairing these items with what I already had was a cinch, especially when sticking to a traditional color scheme like red, white, and green. Your overall budget will depend on how many children you are setting for, but some of the items were 2{or more} for a dollar – even better!
Here is an itemized list of what I used:
Glitter Chrismas trees centerpiece – $1 each – Target
Letters to Santa – $1 each from Michael’s
Snowflake “plate charger” – $1 each at Dollar Tree
Mini Gingerbread houses – $1 each at Dollar Tree
Swirly Candy Canes – 2 for $1 at Dollar Tree
Felt Stockings – $1 each from Target
Gingerbread House ornaments {to embellish stockings} – $1 for 6 at Dollar Tree
Celebrations At Home. Happy Holidays!

{Guest Post}DIY Photo Coaster by Lindsay of Lee La La

Hi A Blissful Nest friends.

I am Lindsay, the girl behind the blog,

Lee La La

I am a Momma.

I am a so called writer.

I am an occasional crafter.

I am a fashion lover.

It’s nice to meet you!

I am so excited to be here today.

Rebekah’s blog is my go to place for beautiful inspiration.

So today is a real treat.

I am all about handmade holiday gifts.

I believe handmade gifts are the best because they come straight from the heart.

With that being said,
I want to share a fun DIY project with you.

One that will make the perfect gift idea for anyone on your list.

DIY PHOTO COASTER PROJECT

Supplies:

4″x4″ tile coasters
white tissue paper
printer
scotch tape
scissors
Mod Podge (Matte or Gloss)
paint brush
Krylon acrylic clear coat
black felt with adhesive backing
Let’s get to work!
1. Print out a 4×6 photo onto white tissue paper.
To help the tissue feed thru your printer, Cut out an 8×10 piece of tissue paper and scotch tape it to a piece of 8×10 card stock.
2. Cut your tissue print down to 4″x4″
3. Brush a thin coat of Mod Podge over your tile and paste your photo onto the tile. Let dry COMPLETELY!
4. Once dry, put a thin coat of Mod Podge over your photo. Let dry completely.
Repeat 2 more times, making sure each coat is dry before you do another, or else the tissue will rip.

5. Once dry, seal with Kylon acrylic clear coat. I did 3 coats of this, making sure the previous coat is dry before you add another.

6. To complete the coaster, cut out a 4″x4″ piece of black felt. and attached it to the back.

7. Project Complete!

Wrap up 4 coasters with some ribbon or twine and you have a wonderful GIFT!

*I’ve done this project with gloss mod podge and matte mod podge.
Although completely different looks, both look fantastic.

Thank you for hanging with me today.
I’ve LOVE it if you stopped by my blog and said hello.

{Guest Post} Holiday Decor For The Home By Linda of Burlap+Blue

Hello, A Blissful Nest readers! This is Linda, from burlap+blue, and I am thrilled to be guest posting here today sharing some of the holiday decor around my home. If you don’t know who I am, I write a home decor/DIY blog, burlap+blue, and I have an Etsy shop of the same name, where I create vintage-inspired goods for the home.

Let’s get right to it, shall we?

I was lucky to receive this metal, clippy-thing from my sister-in-law, and I just love how these vintage ornaments look hanging from it. I adore versatile home decor pieces, and this definitely fits the bill.

I talked about this simple felt wreath recently in this post. In short, it’s fun to make, easy to put together, and gives you a lot of bang for your decorating dollar-it looks bold and fresh against my black front door, but would look equally great hanging from a mirror, frame, or even leaning against wall. Love.

A few years ago, I made these mini chair swags out of faux pine, paper mache bells I found at HomeGoods, and some glitter leaves. Three years later, they still look great and add a festive touch to our dining room chairs. Added bonus? I got to justify (at least to myself), my mild obsession with ribbon collecting. I bought this red gingham ribbon having no idea what I’d use it for, and it suits these swags perfectly.

Random berry garland (this thing has been used everywhere over the years) and milk glass make for a simple, yet impactful, bookcase display. The white, green, and red are a classic color combo, but somehow manage to look fresh.

Thank you to Rebekah for inviting me to guest post here today, and thanks to all of YOU for letting me spend a few minutes sharing my home with you.

Have a MERRY Christmas!

xoxo

{Guest Post} Holiday Mantels by Cassie of Hi Sugarplum

Hello lovely readers of A Blissful Nest, I’m Cassie from Hi Sugarplum, and I was thrilled when Rebekah asked me to participate in her Holiday Series. Next to the Christmas tree, a decorated mantel is my favorite part of Holiday decor. And fortunately, I have two mantels to play with each year! This allows me to have one that fulfills my girly side, and another that’s more cozy and traditional.

Our Living Room is the brighter, more formal room in the house, so it tends to receive a more modern treatment. This year I used fresh Magnolia leaves from our backyard, and added pink touches since it’s our accent color for Christmas. Here is our Pink Magnolia Mantel:

Last year, we focused on mostly metallics, so we had a Glittery Gold Mantel.

I created the sparkly NOEL with paper mache letters and glitter.

But you know families tend to snuggle near the TV and Christmas tree, so the Den is where we have a Traditional Mantel.

This is where we’ll race Christmas morning, to dig through the stockings for treasure!

Thanks for having me Rebekah, it’s been fun! You can check out all my Christmas Projects at Hi Sugarplum!
