{DIY Tutorial} Easy Painted Jars

Hello, A Blissful Nest readers! It’s Linda here, from burlap+blue, and I’m happy to be here today sharing a fun and easy tutorial with you all!

These painted jars are perfect as centerpieces for your next party or event! And the best part is, they cost only pennies to make.

Materials:
glass jars (I collect these all year round for different crafts)
craft paint

That’s it! And the how-to couldn’t be easier…

Just take your glass jars, and squirt in about a tablespoon of craft paint. Add just a smidge of water to loosen the paint.

Next, put your lids back on your jars…and shake!

Let dry. You may need to touch up with a little more paint once your jars have dried.

Remove lids, add flowers, and voila!

Super simple, and I love how you can make these in any color scheme imaginable!

I chose blue, kelly green, and gold…what colors would you choose?

{DIY Tutorial} Twine-Wrapped, Spray-Painted Votive Holders

Hello again, A Blissful Nest readers! It’s Linda here, from burlap+blue, and I’m so excited to be here sharing another fun tutorial with you all!

This is sooo easy and so versatile! You can use this technique on any kind of container you can think of. I tried it on votive holders and mason jars, and loved them both!

Materials:
containers of choice (again, I used votive holders and mason jars)
jute twine
spray paint

Step 1: Take your twine, wrap it around your container, and tie the ends together.

Step 2: Spray paint your container in your color of choice (I used two coats). Let dry.

Cut and unwrap your twine and voila!

I did this on mason jars as well for a shower a few months ago…

It made THE perfect vases for flowers, in my opinion!

What would YOU use this technique with? Do tell!

Nothing Like Spring Roses!

There really isn’t like the first roses on your bushes. They are so beautiful and crisp. I had just seen in BHG a gorgeous arrangement by Mathew Mead with roses and cabbage leaves, so I thought I would try it out. All you need is a great vase, some of your roses from your garden and some cabbage leaves. Fill the vase with some water (add plant food if you have any). Trim the bottom of each leaf and line the vase with the leaves. Then plop your rose dead center in the middle of the leaves. . . and done! How easy and they are so pretty. Now I can give my husband flowers when he walks in tonight from work!

Here are the materials:

The Finished Arrangement:

I also made one for Lauren for her play table outside. I found these great buckets in turquoise at Target that match my colors in my outside pillows (pictures to follow just as soon as I am done out there!)I love putting fresh flowers in her room and thought it would be sweet to have them out there for her too.

So everyone make yourself or loved one a pretty little cabbage and rose surprise this weekend. Hope you have a great one!!
