{BN Black Book of Parties} Vintage School Baby Shower

Today’s featured party is fun, unique theme for a baby shower that you don’t see every day – it’s a Vintage School baby shower created by our friend Jen from Sweeten Your Day Events! Jen wanted to throw a baby shower for a close friend of hers, but since it was her 2nd baby, she didn’t want something really big. Jen decided on an intimate luncheon with some of their closest friends.

The backdrop for the dessert table included an old window frame with vintage paper inset into each pane. Vintage flash cards strung onto twine with clothespins were used to create the darling bunting. Additional vintage school themed accessories used throughout the party included wood letter blocks, books, apples and flash cards – so cute!!

Jen’s inspiration for the dessert table was her own sack lunches she used to have as a kid – which usually included a pb&j sandwich, an apple, cookies and a carton of milk. Desserts for the shower included peanut butter and jelly bars, mini apple pies and cookies and milk parfait’s – genius!!

For lunch, guests were served their meal in a brown paper sack and included a chicken salad croissant sandwich, chips, salad and a fruit cup with letter cookies. Jen used a paper doily and a sweet pink ribbon to embellish the paper sacks.

{BN Black Book of Parties} Vintage Tea Party Baby Shower

Vintage Tea Party Baby Shower

We love a beautiful tea party and mixing and matching old tea sets with new ones. You may remember this one that had lots of vintage clothing for this kids to wear  Today’s featured party is a pretty Vintage Tea Party Baby Shower submitted to us by Flavia from Fête à Fête.  A dear friend was going to be visiting from Canada, and Flavia decided it was the perfect opportunity to throw her a baby shower with a shabby chic afternoon tea party theme, including an entirely gluten-free menu.

Flavia re-purposed a lot of items she already had to serve as decorations and serving pieces. What she did buy came from thrift stores and flea markets.

She asked that guests come “in a vintage mood – and outfit.” and offered the ladies accessories such as gloves, tiaras, fascinators, pearls, feather boas, shawls and lace hand fans.

{BN Black Book of Parties} Election Gender Reveal Party

I love gender reveal parties! We featured a fun “What will it Bee?” party earlier this year here on A Blissful Nest.

My cute friend (and fellow ABN contributor) Jen from Sweeten Your Day Events created this fun and very timely Election themed gender reveal party last month for her family. She and her husband knew the sex of the baby, but hadn’t told anyone else yet. Her son really wanted a baby brother and her daughter just wants a baby!

The idea at the party was that guests could cast their vote for what they think the baby will be and at the end of the party, the ‘official results’ envelope was opened to reveal the gender – so fun!

Of course, guests got their own “I voted” sticker!

Jen set up a small area where guests could vote and grab some fun treats, including ‘vote’ cake pops and yummy sugar cookies. Jen creates amazing cakes!  I just love the simple white cake with pretty icing and the cute bunting flags.

So fun, creative and simple – I love it! Curious what the official results were??? Head over to Jen’s blog to find out! ;-)

Thanks for letting us share your fun party with our readers, Jen and congrats on the upcoming arrival!!
