Grab a cup of coffee and a cozy chair. Part 1 of my journey is a long one but I hope well worth it!

**Thank you all for such encouraging comments and they really mean a lot! Here are the 2 links to the conference/webinar series I refer to in the video:

Making Things Happen

OK so I am soooo glad I watched this. I can so relate to you about the business taking you to a place of success but also a sort of time munching prison leaving you bitter. And to having a hard time with family that made the business just a bit harder. I feel I am in a constant flow of “fired up” then burnt out. Something I am trying to figure out how to fix on my journey.
I just adore you and your work and I commend your courage to share! Can’t wait to watch more posts!
XOXO Katie
PS do you have a link to the webinar you mentioned?
Hey Katie!
Wrote you back personally but here are the links so everyone has them for the series I was talking about:

You are soo cute! I’m constantly shocked at how much time has gone by, 4 years! I’m looking forward to more video posts.
Too quick!
Thanks for sharing Rebekah! Same with photography, it’s about 10% actually shooting and the rest is post process, communicating with your client, managing the business, etc. I’ve been blogging for 2.5 years and this party styling industry is indeed moving FAST. I still think there’s a lack of party planners in Chicago (I don’t mean wedding/event planners) and I’m hoping to make my mark before others, but at the same time I am having a hard time finding my identity to market and define my brand. I know good things are in store for me and like you said, it’s just the beginning. So I am in no rush…Look forward to hearing more from you!
Mindy you will be fantastic and your personality and flare for design are what will set you apart. Capitalize on that.
You are so cute!! Thank you for sharing. I learn so much from you! Nice catching up today sweet friend.
XOXO
Miss you and see you in a few weeks!
Hi Rebekah-wow! What a great way for me to get introduced to you! I just discovered your adorable place. I can relate tremendously to your journey. I am about to start my FOURTEENTH year in business & I still feel like I am in the birth stage! I began when I had a brand new baby. He is now about to turn 14. The old cliche about “Time flies!” is an understatement. Two kids & thousands of crazy work days later, I reflect, like you are doing. It is true about sacrificing family when you are working so much. Those late nights get me every time. I’m not a morning person, either! I think your new video journey will help many others relate, and will help you to talk about it…a win-win for everyone! Go out & enjoy your family this weekend!!

Yay and welcome! Glad people can relate to this journey I am on. The family is what I don’t want to sacrifice any more and want to make sure the things I do in business going forward makes sense in a bigger way. We WILL figure this all out!!
I have put myself on a more structured work schedule, and that has helped more than anything. That doesn’t mean it will work 100% of the time, but it’s so much better to have occasional exceptions instead. Hopefully your daughter goes to pre-k, mother’s day out, etc so you can definitely block out those times without the guilt! I have also learned to define the bigger picture, prioritize your objectives & know you cannot do everything. The other thing I have learned….BREATHE!!
Love the idea of video blogs to explain who you are, your ideas, & what you are working on to accomplish. By sharing your struggles & successes, you are reaching out to many who are experiencing the same issues, while at the same time providing some suggested solutions to their questions.
Best of luck on your continued journey.
This was an awesome way of us seeing you! So much of what you said I can relate to. I started my own small business venture last year, and I’m glad I’m not the only one trying to find myself! Great of you to put it out there for all of us to see. Keep it up! ~Michelle
Thanks so much for sharing. I needed to hear this today. I have had a wonderful year – making me yearn for more – but find myself struggling with the balance and wondering will it all be worth it. You are not kidding about this business changing constantly and it is hard to keep up. Thanks for being candid about your personal struggles. I think most of us can definitely identify. Now, I am off to watch the webinar.
